A-150 Cognitive Impairment in Patients with Infratentorial Stroke Undergoing Acute Stroke Rehabilitation

Abstract Objective: Brainstem, pontine, and cerebellar (infratentorial) stroke has been associated with motor cranial nerve dysfunction. However, case reports clinical observations suggest that cognitive impairment may be present. Acute inpatient rehabilitation is a critical time to implement interventions; however, intervention opportunities missed if providers are unaware of dysfunction do not assess for deficits in patients infratentorial strokes. Our objective was evaluate cognition individuals strokes undergoing acute rehabilitation. Method: Participants were recruited as part an ongoing trial on unit. (N=7; Median age=69 years (range 53-88); education=16 (range: 6-20); 4 female) recent onset administered the Tablet-based Cognitive Assessment Tool admission Performance evaluated via normative comparison (impairment defined ≤1.5 SD below mean) by direct participants supratentorial (N=17) using Mann-Whitney U tests. Results: demonstrated across tasks attention/working memory, set-shifting, inhibition (Median age-normed z-score ranged from -2.35 -3.86).
